Terms of Service – NorthernCV AI-Resume Builder Application

Welcome to Northern CV, an AI-powered resume and cover letter editor and builder application by SwitchCareers Ltd. (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access our services.

Northern CV is a web-based tool that uses artificial intelligence to help users create, format, and optimize resumes for the Canadian job market. Our AI can format user-entered information and/or generate new content, including summaries, bullet points, and other resume elements.

• Accuracy Verification: You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content for correctness and appropriateness. AI outputs may contain errors.
• No Job Guarantee: We do not guarantee job interviews, offers, or employment results.
• Proper Use: You agree not to submit unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate content.

We collect personal information such as name, email, phone number, work history, education, skills, and career preferences as outlined in our Privacy Policy. By using our service, you consent to data collection and processing in line with Canadian privacy laws and our Privacy Policy.

• Limited Use: Your data is used only to generate resumes and operate the service.
• No AI Training: Your data is not used to train AI models.
• International Storage: Third-party service providers (GitHub, Vercel, Neon DB, etc.) may store or process data outside Canada, including the USA. Your data may therefore be subject to foreign laws.

Your use of the service constitutes consent to these transfers.

Access & Correction: You can access or update your information through your account. For data not editable, contact support.

Data Deletion: You may delete your account at any time. When deleted:

• Personal data and generated resumes are removed from active systems.
• Backup data is purged on a regular cycle.
• All actions comply with relevant data protection laws.

We retain data as long as your account is active. Accounts inactive for 12 months may be deleted after notice.

We use safeguards including:

• Encryption (in transit & at rest)
• Authentication and access controls
• Ongoing security monitoring
• Staff privacy & security training
• Incident response procedures

You retain ownership of your personal data. AI-generated resume content becomes your property once created. We retain rights to the underlying AI technology, platform, and templates.

To the extent permitted by Ontario and Canadian law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service. We are not liable for:

• Loss of job opportunities
• Costs of revising or correcting resume content
• Misuse or reliance on AI-generated content
• Business interruptions or data loss

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. All disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Ontario courts.

We may modify these Terms at any time, with notice provided for material changes. Continued use of the service means you accept the updated Terms.
